Job Summary
The public relations manager oversees media initiatives to publicize Lexington Medical Center and its services, facilities, clinicians and staff. The job includes working with members of the news media, building relationships with clinicians and leadership to learn about patients and services, producing written and video content for media outlets and serving as a spokesperson for the hospital when necessary. The public relations manager often collaborates with the advertising and communications teams on project and with the communications team on social media content. The public relations manager also maintains and updates the hospital's Crisis Communications plan. Excellent communication skills and writing ability are essential.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Public Relations or Journalism
Minimum Years of Experience: 3 Years in communications, public relations or journalism

Essential Functions
- Develop a media relations strategy for all media formats based on consumer insights and organization goals.
- Leverage existing media relationships and cultivate new contacts within local and industry media.
- Pitch news stories to media organizations about hospital services, facilities, clinicians, patients and staff members.
- Manage media inquiries and interview requests.
- Create written content for press releases, byline articles for external publications and keynote presentations.
- Produce video content for news outlets in collaboration with the hospital’s videography team.
- Monitor, analyze and communicate PR results monthly.
- Collaborate with department leaders and the hospital’s public relations consulting firm when needed for issue management and crisis communications
Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintain and update the Crisis Communications Plan in Marketing and organize practice drills for the Marketing team.
- Seek out and produce content showcasing compelling patient stories and the expertise of hospital clinicians.
- When requested, write speeches, remarks and editorial content for hospital leadership.
- When requested, emcee hospital events.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
