Job Summary
Responsible for the independent operation of the ultrasound equipment and for performing and communicating results of diagnostic findings to the provider along with assisting the provider with ultrasound guidance procedures.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Education: Completion of RDMS program
Minimum Years of Experience: One year of successful work experience in ultrasound of the abdomen/pelvis; transabdominal and transvaginal approach
Substitutable Education & Experience (Optional): None
Required Certifications/Licensure: Current certification with the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) in the sub-specialty of OB-GYN;
Fetal Nuchal Translucency certification through the Fetal Medicine Foundation, Nuchal Translucency Quality Review (or successful completion of the certification within one year of hire)
Required Training: Successful completion of an accredited sonography program
Essential Functions
- Demonstrates competence to provide developmentally appropriate care/treatment for the following patient population: Adolescent - 13 years to 17 years, Adult - 18 years to 65 years, Geriatric - over 65 years
- Performs all requested sonographic examinations as ordered by the attending physician.
- Performs duties as required to ensure efficient and effective service to patients.
- Coordinates and works with other office staff to assure appropriate patient care is provided.
- Practices and encourages Service Excellence.
- Reviews images, inputs findings into electronic health records system and sends to physician for evaluation.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintains ultrasound equipment and work area.
- Log patients and procedures.
- Maintain equipment to include service calls, clean filters and runs test checks on all machines.
- Consults with OBGYN Physicians on reading ultrasound results.
- Determines ultrasound supply needs and forwards purchasing requests to supervisory staff.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
